The Deriko family survived an earthquake, but the earthquake left a lasting imprint on family size.

Is life really in the tens? Dereko’s parents, Karen and Dion, seem bent on finding out, as they travel around the world with twelve children. The entire crew decided to welcome America into their lives via a new reality TV show on TLC, and the result is mayhem. The only catch is that the wildest part of Dereko’s lifestyle may not be what viewers expect.

The Derrico family’s official TV show – Down With The Derricos – revealed that the gigantic clan is surprisingly organized. Karen and Dickon are able to lead prayer and story time to children every night before bed. Rather, they are able to get their children to do their jobs without having to be asked.

However, while Dereko appears to be able to plan every outcome, nature gave them one last surprise that led them to a difficult situation.

Earth-shattering moment

One of the most intense events to hit the Deriko family was a natural disaster. According to the official TLC Network Twitter page, the Derekou family survived an earthquake, but the quake left a lasting impact on family size.

On Wednesday, August 19, TLCNetwork posted an update on the event. The post read: “@ KarenDerrico is lying in bed when the aftershocks send her into labor.”

The family structure completely changed after the event. As a result of the impact of the earthquake on Karen’s health, the father of the family took over the role of both parents. “Deon runs the house … while Karen goes to bed rest at the hospital,” confirms a report in a TLC blog post included in the tweet.

It is yet to be determined whether Karen and her baby’s health will improve in the coming months.

A family dressed with elegance

The tweet also included a photo of the family wearing some of the most elegant clothes of happy times. Karen, Dionne and their kids are shown in yellow and white outfits at a birthday party.

Toddlers look especially adorable in their tricolor shirts, which combine a white stripe and two tones of gold.

Deon is decorated in white and has a white beanie.
