Jokowi will visit the bull cage, PDIP: a form of PSI arrogance
The PDIP is responding to former President Joko Widodo or Jokowi’s planned political safari in Central Java, an area known as Kandang Banteng, in mid-July.
PDIP spokesman Guntur Romli said the safari project was a form of arrogance on the part of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), now led by Kaesang Pangarep, Jokowi’s son.
“This is just a form of arrogance from the PSI, not a statement that needs to be responded to, let alone worried about,” Guntur said as quoted by CNN, Sunday, July 5, 2026.
According to Guntur, PSI is not a large party capable of competing with PDIP in Central Java. He believes that the party does not yet have significant political power because it failed to qualify for the 2024 parliamentary elections.
“If PSI is a big party in 2024 and continues to say it wants to win the bull cage, that makes more sense,” he said.
Guntur also spoke of the failure of the PSI, even though at the time it received direct support from Jokowi.
“When Jokowi was still president, PSI put his photo on all the billboards, but it still didn’t work. Especially now that he is no longer president,” he said.
Previously, DPW PSI Central Java Chairman Antonius Yogo said that Jokowi’s political safari with Kaesang is expected to take place in mid-July 2026. He said the visit will be carried out in several districts and cities in Central Java, although the exact location has not been announced.
“I hope it will be operational by mid-July,” Yogo said after meeting Jokowi at his residence in Sumber Solo last Friday. []
