Measuring progress, challenges and opportunities in the context of COVID-19
Dr. Tedros, WHO Director-General, joins the foreign ministers of Japan, Thailand and Georgia to host a ministerial meeting on universal health coverage (UHC) to commemorate the one-year anniversary High-level meeting on UHC and promote release Summary of the UN Secretary-General’s policy on COVID-19 and the UHC. Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Ministers of Health from around the world commented on the commitments made in Political Declaration on the UHC, taking into account national and global efforts to deliver UHC in the context of COVID-19 and the challenges and opportunities for better construction for a fairer and more sustainable world. Japan’s foreign minister announces $ 130 million for COVAX advanced market commitments, of which the United Kingdom was £ 32.5 million.
The event also included a thematic panel with global health leaders, exploring new and innovative partnerships to accelerate and increase the development, production and equitable access to COVID-19 tests, treatments and vaccines, as well as the necessary transformation of the health system to better protect health and human security.
