Montgomery COVID-19: Authorities add 115 new cases, one dead
Bethesda, Maryland — According to the Maryland Department of Health, Montgomery County has added 115 new coronavirus cases and another death from COVID-19.
The figures released on Friday have pushed the county-wide total to 64,514 infections and 1,393 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
The latest death toll does not include the other 45 deaths that are associated with the virus but have not been confirmed in lab tests. For now, they are considered “potentially dead.”
Montgomery County, home to about one million people, continues to be the deadliest in the state. Also, according to the latest figures, the number of cases confirmed is the second highest after Prince George’s County with 74,991 people.
Throughout Maryland, there were 391,480 coronavirus cases, 7,848 confirmed deaths, and 182 “estimated deaths.” Of the 765 patients hospitalized for the disease throughout the state, 195 are in the intensive care unit (ICU).
As of Friday, Maryland received 1,781,370 COVID-19 vaccines. Of them, 1,124,484 was the first dose and 611,861 was the second dose.
In Montgomery County, 212,281 inhabitants (20.2 percent) received the first dose. A total of 108,995 inhabitants (10.4 percent) have already taken their second and final shots.
