Nearly 7,000 pounds of hot dogs recalled in Ohio and West Virginia

A Kentucky meat manufacturer is recalling nearly 7,000 pounds of hot dogs produced without federal inspection, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service announced Monday.

The ready-to-eat hot dogs were produced by AW Farms of Argillite starting May 30, 2024, the federal agency reported.

According to the USDA, food has a shelf life of 45 days.

Some products may be found in refrigerators or freezers in restaurants or hotels, according to the USDA. Restaurants and hotels are asked not to serve the products, to throw them away or to return them to where they were purchased.

The following products are being recalled:

• 10-pound boxes containing two 5-pound vacuum-sealed packages of “FRENCH CITY FOODS 6” 12-1 HOTDOGS”
• 10-pound boxes containing two 5-pound vacuum-sealed packages of frozen “GEO BROWN ALL MEAT HOTDOGS WITH PORK, BEEF, DEXTROSE, SALT, SUGAR AND MAPLE”
• 10-pound boxes containing two 5-pound vacuum-sealed packages of frozen “GEO BROWN ALL BEEF, DEXTROSE, SALT, SUGAR & MAPLE HOTDOGS”

What is the hot dog recall number?

The recall number for the hot dogs is “EST. 47635,” and the problem was discovered when the USDA was notified by a state public health partner about the products.

The products were shipped to restaurants and hotels in Ohio and West Virginia.

The recall does not identify the restaurants and hotels affected.

On Monday, the USDA said there had been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions from the recalled products.
