American actor in London: Greg Canestrari talks about his latest projects

LONDON, United Kingdom – TAPintoTV executive producer Brian Brodeur meets the actor Greg Canestrari, an American currently living in London. Canestrari talked about some of his past and future work and shared his life experiences across the pond.

One of Canestrari’s best known roles is the role of Jerry Delucci in the Netflix series Lily Hammer, which has the distinction of being the first original series produced by the online streaming network. The show played Steven Van Zandt, of Sopranos and E Street Band the glory, which was “a joy to work with,” said Canestrari, “an adorable guy.”

Lilyhammer is a show about a New York based gangster named Frank “The Fixer” Tagliano trying to start a new life in Lillehammer, Norway, where the show was actually filmed. “The people who loved The Sopranos will like Lily Hammer– the same type of comedy, rhythm and mood, ”said Canestrari.

One of Canestrari’s recent projects is the film Last city standing, which was created this year Amazon Prime Video. Greg plays Danny, a shady overseas buyer of a factory in a small town. “I’m still the bad guy,” joked Canestrari. He described the film as “a playful family film and it’s great for the time too.”

Other recent credits include Tim Burton’s Dumbo, Stan & Ollie, and the Hulu series The boat. Canestrari also has a background in musical theater and is an accomplished singer. Before the pandemic, Canestrari was sometimes in one of the many music clubs in London, performing piano standards.

Canestrari, who grew up in the Boston area and frequented Emerson college, has lived in London for twenty years. “You can become a kind of big fish in a small pond, but it’s still a fairly large pond here,” said Canestrari. “The competition is still quite difficult.”
