Actor Nitish Bharadwaj's ex-wife files application for recovery of unpaid money for daughters
Bhopal: Senior IAS officer Smita Bharadwaj, who is fighting a divorce case against her actor husband Nitish Bharadwaj, has filed a 'darkhast' (petition) in a family court in Mumbai demanding that her property be sold for recovery of Rs 10,000 per month to each girl whom she claimed not to pay for a long time.
His lawyer Chinmay Vaidya confirmed the filing of the 'darkhast' with the family court in Bandra in the metropolis.
''I can confirm a recovery procedure on the basis of a provisional order for which a sum of Rs 10,000 per girl, or Rs 20,000 per month, accumulated since December 2022, has been deposited. This amount has not been paid since December 2022, which is why I had to initiate recovery proceedings on behalf of my client,” he said.
Vaidya declined to give further details, saying the matter was sub-judice.
Sources close to her said the 'execution petition' filed in the family court was aimed at selling the actor's assets to recover the Rs 10,000 per month that has to be paid to each daughter.
When contacted, Nitish Bharadwaj, in a Whatsapp reply, said, “I will have to check with my lawyers if any such application is filed by her. If we receive it, we will respond appropriately.”
While Nitish Bharadwaj became a household name for his portrayal of Lord Krishna in the immensely popular television series MahabharatSmita Bharadwaj is posted in Bhopal as Additional Chief Secretary.
The actor had earlier this month filed a complaint with the Bhopal police commissioner, alleging that his estranged wife had “kidnapped” his two daughters and was not allowing him to meet them.
He had urged the police to register a case of kidnapping against his estranged wife.
Smita Bharadwaj, in a statement, said the allegations were “false and malicious” and aimed at maligning her image.
