Taha Shah defends Sharmin Segal's performance in Heeramandi, says she might point out flaws in the script: Unfair to judge her so highly | Bollywood News

Actor Taha Shah Badussha says it's time people go easy on his Heeramandi co-starSharmin Segal, who was the target of a lot of trolling for her performance in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali series. Sharmin, who is the niece of the famous filmmaker, has become a subject of memes since the release of the series on May 1.

Reacting to all the criticism she received, Taha Shah told Puja Talwar in an interview that even her parents gave her “logical explanations” while discussing Sharmin's performance in the period drama.

“They went after her and whoever I spoke to, I made it a point to say that… We're no one to speak to the public, but I can speak to the people who are close to me, like my mom and dad . They came to me and shared a logical explanation of how her performance went and it made perfect sense. set for almost 100-110 days I saw her doing her best,” he added.

Taha, who opposite Sharmin in the show romantically, praised the actor for knowing Heeramandi's script thoroughly, to the point where he could note flaws in it. Taha said Sharmin's career – who is only one film old – has begun and it is unfair to judge her so harshly.

“When we were discussing the script, she was able to give a logical explanation to something that shouldn't be there. She was initially AD for Bhansali, she has already done Malal and then moved into this field. She knows her working process and has also gone through the entire script. I always saw her coming up with good ideas, doing her best. So I would plead for people to give it a break. She is still young in the industry and I know this is just her starting point. I really hope they take it easy,” he added.
