'Hawaii Five-0' 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' Actor Was 56

Taylor Wily, Samoan actor from Laie, Hawaii, best known for playing Kamekona Tupuola in the CBS series Hawaii five-0died Thursday of natural causes, his manager Michael J. Henderson confirms to Weekly Entertainment. He was 56 years old.

No further details are available at this time, although a family statement will likely be released in the coming days.

Hawaiian media KITV 4 Island News was the first to report Wily's death. This was later confirmed by Peter Lenkov, who worked with the actor as an executive producer through Hawaii five-0, Magnum PIAnd MacGyver Wily reprized his role as Kamekona in the last two series.

“I'm devastated. Heartbroken,” Lenkov wrote on Instagram, alongside a photo of him and Wily together. “I'll post some detailed feelings later. It's too hard right now.”

The EP released a more in-depth tribute to the star by sharing a montage of videos and images from their time together. “T, as I told you many times, I fell in love with you from the first audition,” Lenkov wrote. “You showed up with a towel on your head to mop up the sweat, and I was seduced. You charmed me into making you a regular on the show and in my life. You were family. And you I'm going to miss you every day, brother.”

He also mentioned speaking with Lenkov just a week before and how they laughed about Wily being right “from day one.”

“Five-0 was our dream job. And I was so lucky that we could share this magic together,” he added.

Born in 1968 as Teila Tuli, Wily got his start as a sumo wrestler before acting. He landed a few small roles on television in the late '90s until he landed a breakthrough role in Kemo in 2008. Forgetting Sarah Marshallin which he was remarkable against Jason Segel and Mila Kunis.

In 2010, Wily made his debut as Kamekona, a confidential criminal informant on Hawaii five-0 who runs the Wailoa Shave Ice, Shrimp Truck and Helicopter Travel businesses. He played this role for 171 episodes of this series alone, but also reprized Kamekona for an episode of MacGyver and seven episodes of Magnum PI

Wily is survived by his wife Halona and their two children.
