Karnataka court remands actor Darshan to judicial custody till July 4 in Renukaswamy murder case | Bengaluru

A court on Saturday remanded Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa to judicial custody in the Renukaswamy murder case till July 4. His four alleged accomplices were also placed in judicial custody. The actor had been in police custody since June 11.

The special prosecutor requested the court to order housing the accused separately and in different jails in Karnataka, which was opposed by Darshan's lawyers.

Darshan and his aides were taken to Parappana Agrahara Central Jail in Bengaluru. A large number of his fans gathered at the court and raised slogans in favor of Darshan.

The actor also waved to them from the caged police van. Thirteen other accused, including the actor's friend Pavithra Gowda, were sent to police remand for 14 days two days ago.

A total of 17 people are accused in this murder case. According to police sources, Renukaswamy, a fan of the actor, allegedly sent obscene messages to Gowda, which angered Darshan, leading to his murder.

Renukaswamy's body was found near a storm drain adjacent to an apartment in Sumanahalli here on June 9. According to the autopsy report, Renukaswamy's death was caused by shock and hemorrhage resulting from multiple blunt injuries sustained.
