Actor Rhea Chakraborty has filed a complaint with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) accusing a neighbor of making “patently false and false allegations … to deceive the investigation” into the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

Ms Chakraborty, who was released last week after spending nearly a month in Byculla prison in Mumbai, has been vilified by a section of the electronic media.

The actor blamed this for the snowballing of the issue, which led to the involvement of three central agencies, the arrest of her and her brother, and the harassment of her father by reporters.

After the High Court granted bail and contradicted the Bureau of Narcotics’ assertion that she was “an active member of a drugs union,” Ms Chakraborty’s attorney, Satish Maneshinde, said the actor would fight against anyone who made false claims about him.
