The Crown: Princess Dianas’ royal fairy tale turns nightmarish in new season four trailer
The press could have portrayed Princess Diana and Prince charlesflash romance like a fairy tale, but crowned Creator Peter Morgan takes a decidedly different approach in the dramas of the fourth season. In a brand new trailer, audiences are given front row seats for Morgans’ fictional reimagining of what it was like for a teenage free spirit Diana Spencera played by Emma Corrinwalk the plank in Buckingham Palace and be served in an institution that doesn’t care about one’s happiness.
Charles and Dianas’ wedding was three Brexits and three COVIDs combined in one, right? Morgan has said. Each is defined in one form or another based on its reaction to events that [the royal family] inflicted on us. And at the heart of it all was this marriage. I think what is so sad is that they were a dream team. It could have been so fantastic.
If there was a royal fairy tale, in the opinion of the Morgans, it unfortunately didn’t involve Diana. If anything, in fact from Charless’s perspective, the original fairytale love story is Camilla, Morgan said Vanity Fair Last year. What makes it interesting, however, is that I’m not persuaded that Charles is Camillas’ love of fairy tales. I think her great love was her [first] husband.
Talk to Vanity Fair earlier this year, Corrin explained that audiences would meet Diana when she was just 16. From Episode 1 through Episode 3, we see her vibrant before entering the palace and how normal she was, living in her apartment with friends, and then she is truly transported overnight. The season, which will end in 1990, follows Dianas’ difficult transition to royal life, her marital disappointment, and her journey to motherhood.
Morgan maintains that Princess Diana was isolated and deeply alone in her life as a public figure by both her royal in-laws and her own husband, who were jealous of her popularity. Through it all, however, the crowned The creator believes that the princess never stopped loving Charles, even if her heart was not his.
I don’t think she ever stopped loving Charles, Morgan said. I think she had learned to realize that marriage was impossible. I think she might have liked other people towards the end, but I think her number one choice would have been to make this marriage work.
