Orchard Ridge Elementary School teacher makes online learning fun
MADISON (WKOW) – Orchard Ridge third grade teacher Kayla Suing is bringing joy to her online classroom.
“I want my personality in this to still happen,” Suing said. “I mean I’m on video camera, but I’m still at home alone.”
Her first online course is Monday. She prepared a lecture plan to free herself. She makes films by herself and asks students to in turn send dancing videos.
“I want them to see my face,” Swing said. “I want to see their faces.”
After a week of entering new normal teaching, teachers will move forward with an academic schedule.
“We will ask students to make sure they attend an hour and a half to two and a half hours each day,” Suing explained.
Teachers work with parents to make the transition as smooth as possible.
“I hope we can build independence with the children as routine instructions are established, but we are really just asking families to be their support system and help them with any problems,” Suing said.
Swing says she couldn’t do it alone.
“I think the biggest key is teamwork and staff collaboration,” Suing said. “I think we had great guidance from the school district. We had great guidance from our principal.”
