Natalie Desselle Reid dead: BAPS actor and Eve was 53
LOS ANGELES Natalie Desselle Reid, who starred in the 1997 film BAPS and the sitcom Eve, has died. She was 53 years old.
Reids’ death on Monday was confirmed by JeCaryous Johnson, CEO of JeCaryous Entertainment, who was planning a stage adaptation of BAPS.A representative of the cast family said she died after a battle with colon cancer.
In the BAPS movie, Reid and Halle Berry played two waitresses at a gourmet restaurant in Georgia who decide to fly to Los Angeles for a music video audition. The tandem end up living a luxury lifestyle as black American princesses while caring for an elderly Beverly Hills millionaire (Martin Landau).
Johnson said Reid looks forward to reviving his role as Mickey in the film. He said everyone fell in love with Reids’ undeniably witty, always generous and caring and hilariously jaw-dropping personality during rehearsals earlier this year.
The world has truly lost one of its most angelic souls here on Earth, Johnson said in a statement, highlighting the dedicated approach Reid has taken to his acting. There will never be another woman like her who will light up the screen so easily, nor any room she has entered.

Reid played the role of Janie Egins, friend of Eves, for three seasons on the sitcom UPN Eve. The actor has also appeared in Tyler Perrys Madeas Big Happy Family, F. Gary Grays Set It Off and Def Jams How to Be a Player.
