Lily James and Sebastian Stan to play Pam and Tommy Lee in Hulu series – Deadline
EXCLUSIVE: Hulu has had its fair share of high profile series, but now the streamer is poised to introduce one of Hollywood’s most iconic couples and the scandal that has rocked the industry over celebrity privacy. .
Sources tell Deadline Lily James and Sebastian Stan are on board to play the former Baywatch Star Pamela Anderson and Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee in new limited series for Hulu via working title Pam and Tommy. The rockstar couple’s relationship has dominated the tabloids for years, including the scandal of when their honeymoon sex tape was stolen and leaked to the public. Seth Rogen is on board to play the man who stole the tape, with Me Tonya director Craig Gillespie directs the series and Rob Siegel writes. Rogen is also producing the project with his partner Evan Goldberg through their Point Gray banner with Dylan Sellers via Limelight, Dave Franco and Sue Naegle and Megan Ellison in Annapurna. The eight-part series will film in the spring.

Point Gray spearheaded the development as Rogen and Goldberg brought the original idea to the table.
While the scandalous event will play a major role in the series, the story will focus on their relationship, dating back to their whirlwind romance that began with their marriage after only knowing each other for 96 hours in 1995. VHS tape leaked turned throughout the legal litigation, with Anderson suing video distribution company Internet Entertainment Group. Eventually, the Lees reached a confidential settlement agreement with IEG. Subsequently, the company resumed making the tape available to subscribers of its websites, which tripled normal traffic.
Anderson and Lee are not involved in Pam and Tommy although insiders say they are aware since the project has been in development since early this year when James was brought in to play for Anderson. The project has gained momentum in recent months with the addition of Gillespie and Stan, and it now looks to be on track for production.
Point Gray has been busy wrapping up production lately with hits such as Good boys and American pickle, who also played Rogen.
James already has a heavy fall with Netflix drama Rebecca, which also stars Armie Hammer. It can then be seen in Excavation on Netflix opposite Carey Mulligan. She also recently signed on the working title photo What does love have to do with it. Stan and Gillespie already have a close bond after their stint Me Tonya together. the Captain America star is set to reprise his role as the Winter Soldier in Marvel’s Falcon and the Winter Soldier series broadcast in 2021.
Gillespie is also no stranger to taking this material after having already done it with Stan in Me Tonya. The film garnered multiple Oscar nominations for telling the story of Tonya Harding and the plot to injure rival Nancy Kerrigan during the Olympic Trials. When the leaders patted Gillespie, the hope was that he could bring the same tone to this project that he did with that one.
Rogen and Point Gray are taken over by UTA. Rogen is also replaced by Principal Entertainment LA. James is replaced by Tavistock Wood Management and UTA, and Stan is replaced by CAA and Brookside Artist Management. Gillespie is replaced by UTA and Management 360.
