Police track down caller who launched a telephone hoax at actor Ajith’s home
The man is said to have an intellectual disability and has already made similar calls to other prominent figures.
On May 31, the Tamil Nadu Police Control Room received a bomb threat issued against actor Ajiths Injambakkam’s home by an anonymous caller. Police rushed to the actors’ residence to search the scene, but later discovered it was a hoax. Marakkanam Police told TNM that one day after receiving the call, police were able to trace the call to a man with an intellectual disability.
The man is also said to have launched similar hoaxes against other prominent figures such as Tamil Nadu’s chief minister, Stalin. Police reportedly advised the man’s family not to give him access to a cell phone, but he somehow managed to grab it and launch the hoax at the control room . The police had also sent a warning to the appellant and his family members earlier. Since the call was detected in an area that falls under the jurisdiction of Teynampet Police, they have filed a complaint against the man under Article 507 of the IPC.
