A traffic stop on I-81 in Franklin County uncovered two men with suspected stolen clothing worth more than $1,200.

April 24, 2024 – Two men, one from New York and the other from Florida, are today behind bars on heavy bail after allegedly being arrested in possession of a large amount of stolen goods from retail stores. details unknown. Juan Pablo Sanchez-Perez and Randolph Ardila are both charged with misdemeanor receiving stolen property, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and two misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. Both men failed to post bail of $50,000 each.

Pennsylvania State Police initially stopped a Chrysler Pacifica with Sanchez Perez and Ardila on board around mile marker 15.6 of I-81 in Franklin County just after 9 a.m. on April 23. Police said they noticed minor speeding and stopped the vehicle.

After speaking to the men, the PSPs said they were nervous and couldn't find their documents, leading to more questions. Additionally, Sanchez-Perez and Ardila had “inconsistent” stories and their accounts “made no sense,” according to PSP. Due to these factors, PSP claims to have requested, and obtained from the men, a search of the vehicle.

During a search, PSP said they found several items of clothing and household items located in duffel bags in the rear of the vehicle. Those clothes and blanket still had store tags and the men, they say, were unable to produce receipts. Additionally, officers say they seized two magnets used to remove security tags from clothing and two paper bags lined with duct tape, used to bypass retail store security systems. During the search, a small quantity of marijuana and two drug paraphernalia were also discovered.

Sánchez-Perez and Ardila are behind bars on $50,000 bail.
