Naomi Campbell revives her 1997 Chanel dress for the Cannes red carpet

Cannes [France], May 19 (ANI): Naomi Campbell has set an example when it comes to sustainability and fashion. For the Cannes premiere of “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga,” the model wore a stunning dress from the Chanel fall 1996 show, People reported.

The black sequinned dress that was part of the late Karl Lagerfeld's Fall/Winter 1997 haute couture collection for Chanel originally hit the runway more than two decades ago, but it looks just as beautiful today.

Campbell, 53, who was styled by Law Roach, wore the dress a little differently in 2024 than in 1996.

The floor-length dress features a black sequinned bodice supported by delicate pearl necklaces draped over her shoulders.

In the '90s, the sheer panels didn't get their full glory, as Campbell wore a jumpsuit underneath the garment. Now, however, she made a powerful move by showing off her black thong under the dress and skipped the briefs.

Her hair for the show was also significantly slicked back, while her hair in Cannes was loose and in brushed-out curls. She also accessorized with dramatic drop earrings, which enhanced the grace of her ensemble.

Campbell walked the catwalk during Paris Fashion Week in January. She closed the Balmain men's show (as the only woman to show, we might add) with an eye-catching gold headpiece that flowed vertically over her face, as well as a large sculptural piece positioned across the front of her body. The golden ornament, which appeared to be connected to a belt around her waist, featured a bouquet of metallic flowers held by a pair of hands.
