BAFTA TV Awards 2021: Claudia Winkleman wears a black poncho dress with dazzling fringes

She’s no stranger to glamor as the host of the BBC’s glitzy Strictly Come Dancing contest.

And Claudia Winkleman looked chic at the BAFTA TV Awards on Sunday, as she walked the red carpet in an all-black ensemble.

The presenter, 49, whose show is nominated in the Entertainment Program category, rocked the velvet poncho dress with eye-catching dazzling fringes.

Claudia wore her raven braids in their signature poker straight cut with her iconic bangs brushing under her eyebrows.

She also sported her favorite makeup of a dark tan, thick black eyeliner, and pale lipstick.

The TV personality accentuated her vibrant tan with a crisp white manicure and grabbed a small black bag that complemented her timeless ensemble.

Claudia happily strutted the red carpet in towering black stiletto heels as she smiled broadly at her friends before posing for the camera.

This year, BAFTA will be shining celebrities who cannot attend the red carpet in the form of holograms.

And ceremony hosts Stacey Dooley and Vick Hope will introduce hologram guests to those attending the ceremony from a social distance.

Of her role on the red carpet, Vick revealed last week, “If you’re like me, over the past year or so your WhatsApp groups will have been nonstop about a recent episode or moment. in the latest TV series, documentary, reality show or even cooking show.

“It made me fall in love with television again, and that’s why I think the Virgin Media BAFTAs are very special this year.

“I’m so excited to bring some of that magic to the fans around the house, it’s going to be emotional.”

COVID-19 restrictions mean TV fans can’t be on the red carpet as usual this year and some nominees won’t be able to attend due to filming bubbles.

All content will be captured by a live streaming camera and allow everyone at home to see the action unfold from the comfort of their living room.

Members of the public can watch a live broadcast of the red carpet and be part of the glamor by visiting the Virgin website starting Sunday noon.

They can also choose from a selection of digital red carpet outfits to help them get into the spirit of the Awards and set the carpet ready.

If selected, they’ll be screened on the red carpet and might even ask their favorite celebrity a question with a video of the interaction sent to the fan afterwards.

Several of the biggest televised moments of the year will be celebrated on Sunday, with Diversity’s controversial BLM-inspired routine on Britain’s Got Talent, which drew 24,500 complaints to Ofcom, featured in the must-see moments category.

The category, which is voted on by the public, also sees nods to Penelope revealed as Lady Whistledown in Bridgerton and when Luke Skywalker appeared in the climax of the second season of The Mandalorian.

However, Small Ax leads the nominations this year with 15 nods.

The BBC One anthology film series, directed by Sir Steve McQueen, garnered six television nominations and nine in craft categories, including a nod to the miniseries gong alongside Normal People, Adult Material and I May Destroy You.

Small Ax – which features five films telling stories about the lives of West Indian immigrants in London from the 1960s to the 1980s – also won two lead nominations with John Boyega and Shaun Parkes both receiving nods.

Letitia Wright, who also starred in the series, is up for the lead actress award, and she will face competition from Billie Piper (I Hate Suzie), Daisy Edgar-Jones (Normal People), Hayley Squires (Adult) Material), Jodie Comer (Kill Eve) and Michaela Coel (I Can Destroy You).

Elsewhere, I May Destroy You star Paapa Essiedu will face John and Shaun for the Best Actor award, along with Normal People actor Paul Mescal, Waleed Zuaiter of Baghdad Central and Josh O’Connor of The Crown.

The Crown received 10 nominations – four for TV and six for Craft categories – including a nod for Drama Series distinction alongside I Hate Suzie, Save Me Too and Gangs of London.

Other nods included This Country, Man Like Mobeen, Inside No. 9, and Ghosts for the Scripted Comedy Prize, and This Country siblings and creators Daisy May and Charlie Cooper received nominations for them. gongs Female and male performance in a comedy program, respectively.

The ceremony will be hosted by Richard Ayoade, while Stacey and Vick will take care of the red carpet presentation.
