Boris Johnson's ex-wife 'blocked' his comment that 'he wished he was black'
Ms Hirsch, a bestselling author, was born in Norway to a British father and Ghanaian mother and grew up in Wimbledon. She studied PPE at Oxford and qualified as a solicitor before moving into journalism, working for The Guardian and Sky News.
She has previously accused Mr Johnson of making a litany of racist statements and claimed his stupid stupidity was part of his electoral brand.
Elsewhere in the interview, Ms Wheeler, who has four children with Mr Johnson, described the final years of her marriage as impossible and said she felt free after her divorce.
I guess I think as you get older as a woman and, I guess, after divorce, if I'm honest, it frees you, she said.

Ms Wheeler said she never felt like a politician's wife during her marriage to Mr Johnson, but admitted: I spent a lot of time trying to avoid people putting rosettes on me. I haven't always succeeded.
Since her ex-husband left the Commons, she has joined forces with Labor as its whistleblowing tsar, contributing to the party's plans to crack down on sexual harassment in the workplace.
But she told Ms. Hirsch that she was decidedly nonpartisan.
I like the fact that I've had my feet in a lot of different camps, but I've always been a little anthropological about it and just interested in observing how people work, she said.
She said she thought the volunteer, unpaid role would be limited, but she actually spent a lot more time on it than she expected, I think.
Hinting at a possible future within the Labor Party, she said: “I'm so immersed in it that I will continue in one way or another, even after I share my findings.”
Mr Johnson declined to comment.
