Kennedy, a controversial skeptic of vaccines and public health measures taken during the pandemic, claimed that Trump caved to bureaucrats in instituting pandemic lockdowns.

Citing business closures, mask mandates and travel restrictions, Kennedy said Trump had presided over the greatest curtailment of individual liberties this country has ever seen, and was greeted with applause.

Kennedy, whose third party candidacy could act as a spoiler for Trump, said Trump failed to defend the Constitution when it really mattered and argued there was no pandemic exception to rights granted by the constitution.

His speech wasn't the only indication that Trump might face an at least somewhat hostile crowd when he speaks Saturday. Former Republican presidential candidate and now Trump supporter Vivek Ramaswamy was booed when he mentioned Trump during his own speech.
