While the Conservatives are far behind in the polls, the the party turned to Boris Johnson in an attempt to increase his fortune before the general election.

Johnson is understood to have put his name to hundreds of thousands of letters due to be sent to voters, urging them not to support Reform UK and warning that Labor could find itself in power for a generation.

This comes after Nigel Farages party overtakes Tories in pollwith Reform UK set to split the Tory vote.

Johnson has also recorded videos supporting some candidates, but so far he has not appeared in person on the campaign trail and is currently vacationing in Sardinia, according to a post on his wife Carries' Instagram account.

He used his Daily Mail column to claim a large Labor majority – a weekend Survation poll suggests. Sir Keir Starmer is on track to secure a majority of 262 seats, with the Conservatives down to 72 seats – would be a nightmare that only a Conservative vote could prevent.

Rishi Sunak confirmed Tuesday that Johnson's support of the candidates had been coordinated with the party.

Sunak, whose resignation as chancellor in July 2022 was a key moment that ultimately led to Johnson resigning as prime minister, said: He supports many candidates in videos and letters that have been coordinated through the countryside. I know it will make a difference.
