Indonesian President Jokowi says rice stocks stand at 1.7 million tonnes, visits Bulog Buntok warehouse in Central Kalimantan

After visiting the Buntok Beringin Market, Indonesian President Joko Widodo accompanied by Central Kalimantan Governor H Sugianto Sabran visited the Buntok Bulog Warehouse, South Barito Regency, Thursday (27/6/2024).

The agenda of the President's visit to Buntok is to then inspect the Bulog Buntok warehouse, monitor and ensure the availability of rice stocks.

In his remarks to Buntok residents, President Joko Widodo said that currently Bulog has 1.7 million tons of rice stock and the available stock in Bulog Buntok is 1,500 tons.

But indeed, everywhere in the world, food prices are increasing because production is decreasing, the President said.

He explained that this was due to a long heatwave and drought in all countries of the world.

“So we are encouraging production to increase and harvests to be bigger,” he said.

“Head of Bulog for the Central Kalimantan Region Budi Cahyanto said the agenda of the President's visit to the Bulog warehouse, apart from ensuring stock availability, was also related to distribution of food reserve rice, and wanted to make sure that this program was truly beneficial to the community,” he said.

He also said that food reserve rice was distributed from January to May. “Today, it will be symbolically distributed for June 2024 to food aid beneficiaries in Buntok,” he said.

He added that apart from this, the President also wants to ensure that the stock of Bulog Buntok is 1,500 tonnes of rice, which is enough for three months, and the President wants the circulation of this rice is fluid and of good quality (not yellow, odorless, lice, etc.).

On this occasion, one of the residents of Jalan Asam, Buntok Town, Rosida, expressed gratitude and joy for the rice aid provided and was able to meet President Joko Widodo directly during the visit.
