International companies have confidence in Turkish economic policy, says Sekhon
ISTANBUL
Leaders of major global companies from 13 countries met with senior Turkish officials, including Recep Tayyip Erdoan, in Istanbul on September 28 for the Investment Advisory Council meeting in Trkiye.
We are very optimistic about the changes and reforms taking place in Trkiye, and we also have great confidence in the political framework, said Manraj Sekhon, CEO of Templeton Asset Management.
Sekhon said they had a great meeting and very productive sessions.
Maintaining stability and the policy framework and keeping it on track is the key to direct investments, he added.
Vice President Cevdet Ylmaz along with a number of ministers, including Finance Minister Mehmet Imek, Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar, Trade Minister Mer Bolat and Industry Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacr, were also present at the event.
Executives from Templeton Asset Management, Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), energy company Vitol, Emirates NBD, Mitsubishi Corporation and Chinese automaker Chery were among those who held closed-door talks with officials Turks.
The total assets of the companies that participated in the event in Istanbul exceed $3.5 trillion. These companies operate in the energy, automotive, technology, asset management, financial services, transportation and telecommunications sectors.
It would be beneficial for Trkiye to continue its efforts to ensure price stability, said the statement issued after the meeting of the Investment Advisory Council.
Accelerating structural reforms and adopting innovative policies will strengthen Trkiyes' competitiveness, the statement added.
