Trump refuses to show health records, Harris questions fitness

Donald Trump on Friday dismissed further questions about whether he would release his current medical records, doubling down on his refusal to provide an update on his health even as Kamala Harris works to sow doubt about his fitness to the presidency.

When asked if he would release his medical records, the 78-year-old Republican candidate suggested he had already shared enough information about his health.

“Yes, my health records, I've had five exams in the last four years. You have them all,” Trump told a reporter on the airport tarmac after landing in Detroit, Michigan. Friday afternoon.

Trump then appeared to suggest that he was too busy campaigning against Vice President Harris, the Democratic nominee, to spend time updating his records.

“Obviously, I’m in the middle of a very important and very controversial fight,” he said. “We're in the lead. I've had my health exams.”

Trump added that he had “taken cognitive tests twice, and I passed them. Which means a perfect score.”

“I want to see her take a cognitive test because she didn't pass because she wasn't born intelligent,” he said before walking away from the press.

The Trump campaign did not respond to CNBC's request for additional comment on Trump's remarks in Michigan.

Trump told CBS News in August that he would “very gladly” release his medical records, but his campaign has not done so.

Harris, who turns 60 on Sunday, released a detailed health report from her White House physician on October 12. The same day, Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung said in a statement that the Republican candidate “voluntarily released” several health reports.

Cheung pointed to a three-paragraph letter from Dr. Bruce Aronwald, shared last November and linked to a review of Trump conducted more than a year ago.

Cheung also referenced two memos written in July by Republican Ronny Jackson of Texas, Trump's former White House physician. These memos focused on the injury Trump suffered when he narrowly survived an assassination attempt at a July 13 campaign rally.

Harris, meanwhile, has recently stepped up her health-focused attacks on Trump, who would become the oldest person in U.S. history to be elected president if he prevails in the Nov. 5 election.

At a rally in North Carolina on Sunday, she highlighted Trump's refusal to release a full health report, as well as his decision not to agree to a second debate.

“One wonders why his team wants him in hiding. One has to wonder, one has to wonder, are they afraid that people will see that he is too weak and unstable to lead America? Is that What’s going on?” » Harris said.

On Friday, she grabbed a Politico article that said a Trump adviser had said in a podcast that the former president backed out of an interview on the show because he was “exhausted.”

Trump also deleted a handful of other interviews, including one with CNBC in the final weeks before Election Day.

“If he can't handle the rigors of the campaign trail, is he fit to do this job? I think that's a legitimate question,” Harris said at an event in Grand Rapids, Michigan .

Harris also questioned Trump's mental health. In a widely watched interview on Fox News Wednesday night, Harris said Trump “is unfit to serve,” “unstable” and “dangerous.”

She also mocked Trump over his bizarre town hall event near Philadelphia on Monday night.

After two medical emergencies interrupted the planned question-and-answer session, Trump opted to simply listen to music while standing on stage in front of the crowd. This interlude, which lasted 39 minutes, saw Trump swaying to the music while making a few remarks.

Harris' X account reacted curtly: “I hope he's okay.”
