New Delhi- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday expressed shock over the death of BJP MP and veteran Jammu and Kashmir leader Devender Singh Rana.

Prime Minister Modi said on X, “The untimely demise of Shri Devender Singh Rana Ji is shocking. He was a seasoned leader who worked diligently for the progress of Jammu and Kashmir. He had just won the Assembly elections and had also played a remarkable role in strengthening the BJP in JK.

“In this hour of mourning, my thoughts are with his family and supporters. Om Shanti.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh's brother Rana (59) was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Haryana's Faridabad where he died.

Rana was a stalwart leader of the Jammu region and a prominent face of the National Conference, especially in the Jammu region, for decades before joining the BJP in 2021.

He won the recent assembly polls from Nagrota constituency with the highest margin in Jammu and Kashmir.
