An explosion centered on India

Former diplomat Tasneem Aslams criticizes Nawaz Sharif reflects mindset that prevents normalization of ties between Pakistan and India

Tasneem Aslam, a former Pakistani diplomat who was the spokesperson for the Pakistan Foreign Ministry in 2011, said in an interview with a YouTube reporter that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had banned the Foreign Ministry from speaking against India and death. – place condemn Kulbhushan Jadhav in the framework of the policy of relaxation of New Delhi. Then she assumed that Sharif was probably pro-India because he had personal trade links there and for that reason, he was personally close to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She said that when Nawaz Sharif attended Modi’s swearing-in ceremony in 2014, he did not meet with the leaders of Kashmir Hurriyat (freedom) and that his pro-Indian policy did not benefit Pakistan.

Earlier, after Sharif was ousted for being indulgent with India in 1999, Aslam worked as a spokesperson for FO during the tenure of the military ruler, General Pervez Musharraf, who apparently did not bother her too much , even though the general is currently on death row. He too tried the soft line on India, but got nowhere. And she probably thinks that the punitive gray zone in which the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has placed Pakistan is not a reprimand for Islamabads who put forward foreign policy with jihad against India.

She is not a fire-breathing jihadist man but a woman normally expected to pursue strategic thinking rather than ideology; she is a woman determined to prove that Jung is wrong when he writes: Men live on the basis of pure, non-negotiable concepts, often leading to war; women live on the basis of relationships, subject to fluctuations, but negotiable and repairable. (Today, the world order tends to be feminine, although many states prefer to be masculine.)

Now retired but full of ambition, Aslam probably wants the attention of Prime Minister Imran Khan, forgetting that he started his term by sending a sweet message to Narendra Modi. She is certainly not inclined to the rhetoric of diplomacy and thinks that the condemnation of India on the international scene will somehow push back India and spit Kashmir and cover Islamabad with glory. Unfortunately, Khan experiences the failure of his Indian line after obtaining a cold shoulder from the Saudi Arabian-dominated Islamic Cooperation Organization.

But it is on firmer ground than the two PPP and PMLN governments who were ousted for being lenient with India. The Indian centralism of this thought is supported by an almost universal resistance in Pakistan to any change in the anti-Indian textbook curriculum. Resistance comes not only from the bent spirit of the state apparatus, but also from the spirit that would not remove its link with the non-state actors it used in the past and had to reuse after 2014.

She should remember that Nawaz Sharif campaigned in the 2013 elections with two contradictory slogans, opening up to India and peace with the Taliban. (Aslam should have taken note of his popular mandate). Of course, he abandoned the Indian side earlier, raising the Kashmir question at the UN, but embraced the Taliban side by criticizing the drone attacks by the Americas against them.

We can’t blame Aslam for thinking like she does even after the infamous Kargil War, which was not started by Nawaz Sharif. This is how the shortened spirit of the Pakistans works. To ward off the elected governments of India, a Defense Council of Pakistan was created which attacked any pro-Indian gesture while walking on the Lahore-Islamabad road showing a financial muscle through Hafiz Saeed envied by colleagues dominating the Advice. Flirty, the FATF has imprisoned Hafiz Saeed and no longer fears any attack from Mumbai in 2008 that would have shaken India and taught him a lesson.

Some scholars believe that it was the India-centrism manual of Pakistan that ultimately led it to Islamic extremism. The myth that India does not accept Pakistan and India attacking Pakistan has been concocted and survives the acquisition of nuclear deterrence by Pakistan. Pakistan has used jihad in the asymmetric war that the world calls cross-border terrorism; he used the mosque to muster the warriors he needed to sharpen his revisionist irredentism which ended up destroying Pakistan from within.

Nawaz Sharif, like President Zardari before him and his previous overthrown PPP government, believed that normalizing relations with India was the only solvent available for the fateful jihadist consensus. He wanted Pakistan to survive through a change of policy in the light of the theory of progressive adaptation to circumstances.

Even his friendship with China is unable to wean Pakistan from its obsession with India. Pakistan was said to be aware of the life-changing project with the Chinese trade route through Pakistan. Two gas pipelines were waiting on its western border to enter and go to India. Afghanistan wanted a two-way trade corridor to India via Pakistan. China wanted India to join its trade route to Pakistan to facilitate trade worth $ 100 billion with India. Dangerously isolated, Pakistan is repeatedly reminded of its status as a median state if it is to prosper.

Former Foreign Secretary Riaz Muhammad Khan wrote in 2014: Pakistan’s repeated offers to China and central Asians to use the port of Karachi have generated little interest and the quadripartite agreement signed in 1995 (Pakistan, China, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan) remains moribund. Thus, the potential of trade corridors across Pakistan depends on the engagement of Afghanistan and India. But minds like Tasneem Aslams will not let this potential materialize.
