Fadnavis rejects the buzz on the successor of the PM Modi – the week
The chief minister of Maharashtra, Fadnavis becomes retaliated to the chief of Shiv Sena (UBT) Sanjay Rauts retired from Prime Minister Narendra Modis, saying that there was no need for such a discussion.
Modi would continue to lead the country for many years, said Fadnavis.
Raut, who was an ardent critic of the BJP and Modi since the Safran party broke the alliance with the SHIV Sena, said that Modi had gone to the RSS headquarters in Nagpur on Sunday to transmit the message he retired.
“It is not necessary to seek his successor. He (Modi) is our leader and will continue,” said Fadnavis, adding that the discussion of the succession while the leader is active is inappropriate in Indian culture.
“In our culture, when the father is alive, it is inappropriate to speak of succession. It is Mughole culture. The moment did not come to discuss it,” said the chief minister.
Fadavis also rejected RAUT's claims that the RSS wants a change in the political direction of the country and that Modi's successor would be from the Maharashtra.
“He (Modi) probably went to the RSS headquarters to write his retirement request in September,” said Raut in an apparent reference to the BJP informal rule that leaders reaching 75 years would retire and no responsibility would be imposed on them.
Modi is 75 years old in September.
Earlier, the AAM AADMI Party Supremo, Arvind Kejriwal, had also reported this rule and wondered if Modi would retire this year. However, the Minister of the Interior of the Union, Amit Shah, downright rejected the buzz and said that Moda would end his mandate as Prime Minister.
“I mean that to Arvind Kejriwal and Company and India Alliance that nothing as such is mentioned in the Constitution of the BJP. The Modi PM will only finish this mandate and the PM Modi will continue to direct the country in the future. There is no confusion in BJP, said Shah.
