“This is a big blow for Jokowi and his biggest defeat,” he said.

Jerry believes that President Prabowo Subianto’s government is starting to take a different direction and is not fully pursuing Jokowi’s political strategy and priority programs.

He also linked Jokowi’s plans to visit Indonesia to efforts to increase the electability of his son, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, as well as to increase support for Indonesian Solidarity Party ahead of the 2029 elections.

However, Jerry doubts that this step can significantly increase the strength of PSI.

“I am sure that PSI will never surpass Senayan even if Jokowi visits 38 provinces,” he said.

Additionally, Jerry said a number of legal proceedings involving figures considered close to Jokowi increasingly showed the former president’s diminished political influence domestically.
