Dua Lipa pays tribute to Bianca Jagger in elegant wedding outfit

It’s official: pop star Dua Lipa and James Bond leading man Callum Turner are married. Ahead of the couple’s lavish three-day Sicilian wedding – reportedly taking place in Palermo later this week – the couple tied the knot in a civil ceremony at London’s Old Marylebone Town Hall on Sunday. It is a historic and legendary venue, particularly for musicians, having previously hosted the nuptials of Sir Paul McCartney and Linda Eastman, as well as Liam Gallagher and Patsy Kensit.

The skirt had an asymmetrical cut, with the star’s white-brimmed Stephen Jones hat featuring gold leaf detailing reflecting the wave motif. She completed her look with Christian Louboutin pointed heels, white gloves, a Bulgari Serpenti necklace and diamond earrings. Her new husband, meanwhile, was her “something blue,” wearing a navy Ferragamo suit by British designer Maximilian Davis, with a matching shirt and tie in varying shades of blue.

Lipa has worn countless Schiaparelli designs in the past, including on stage for her Radical Optimism Tour, and she’s attended Roseberry shows sitting front row. It’s the first time she’s worn a hat by Jones (who has made millinery for Victoria Beckham, Kylie Minogue, Kate Moss and more), but as Schiaparelli’s in-house milliner, it was a natural fit. She’s also an ambassador for Bulgari, so it’s no surprise that she wore the jewelry house’s necklace and earrings. After all, weddings are now as much a branding exercise as they are a display of love and commitment.

Turner, who is one of the actors tipped to be the next James Bond, has worn Ferragamo in the past, but is actually a brand ambassador for Louis Vuitton, sparking rumors that he could wear the brand for the official wedding later this week.

Where once the town hall element of a wedding required only a simple dress and suit, today’s bride and groom see it as another excuse to dress up. The costume itself was chosen to hide her pregnancy, with chic details like the wide-brimmed hat and gloves added as a nod to the occasion.

Over the years, this look has been endlessly referenced: in 2014, Amal Clooney wore a cream pantsuit with a matching wide-brimmed hat for her civil wedding to George, while in 2018, model Emily Ratajkowski cited Jagger as the inspiration behind her yellow Zara pantsuit and black hat for her wedding to Sebastian Bear-McClard.

Another bride inspired by Jagger – and whose look is very similar to Lipa’s – was Jemima Goldsmith, who wore an ivory skirt suit by Bruce Oldfield for her civil wedding to Imran Khan in 1995. Other users are also making comparisons to the pale blue Dior look and wide-brimmed hat worn by Rita Hayworth for her 1949 wedding in the south of France to Prince Aly Khan, the Lipa’s skirt suit with a subtle blue undertone.
