His name appears in the Pleidoi, Jokowi speaks frankly about Nadiem Makarim
The 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), bluntly stated that former Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology Nadiem Makarim is a good person. On the other hand, Jokowi also said that he respects the legal process that Nadiem is currently trapped in.
Jokowi made this statement in response to Nadiem’s defense note or plea read a few days ago. Where in the plea, Jokowi’s name is also called Nadiem.

“Yes, what I know is that Minister Nadiem Makarim is a good person,” said Jokowi when meeting at his residence on Jalan Kutai Utara Number 1, Sumber, Solo, Wednesday (3/6/2026.
In the alleged corruption case in the purchase of Chromebook laptops that dragged Nadiem down, Jokowi’s former minister was sentenced to 18 years in prison.
In his statement, Nadiem also expressed his thanks to a number of presidents who trusted him to serve in government, including Jokowi.
On the other hand, Nadiem said that a number of policies and programs of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology were part of the government’s direction. Jokowi did not deny it.
“Yes, all policies, all programs come from the president,” Jokowi said.
Previously, Nadiem Makarim read a defense note during the trial of the alleged corruption case in the purchase of Chromebook laptops at the Central Jakarta Corruption Crimes Court (Tipikor), Tuesday (2/6/2026).
In his plea, Nadiem said the various policies implemented during his tenure as minister were part of efforts to implement government programs led by Jokowi in the education sector.
