US President Donald Trump has reiterated that a deal to end the war in Iran could be reached in “two or three days” and that the critical Strait of Hormuz would reopen “immediately” after such a deal.
Speaking to reporters after attending the NBA Finals on Monday in New York, Trump said the two sides were in the final stages of a “very, very good deal that will not allow nuclear weapons under any circumstances.”
Sky News Arabia reported on Monday that a draft agreement had been sent to the United States for review and was “tentatively acceptable” to the White House.
“Iran is desperate to make a deal because of the historic successes of Operation Epic Fury, Operation Economic Fury and the blockade,” a White House official told CNBC in response to a question about the Sky News reporting. “Discussions on a deal that would prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons are continuing at a rapid pace and are going very well.”
“He’s not going to rush into a bad deal,” the official continued.
The fragile Middle East ceasefire frayed over the weekend, as Iran and Israel exchanged strikes for the first time since it took effect in mid-April.

The Islamic Republic fired missiles into northern Israel after accusing Jerusalem of violating the truce with its strikes on Lebanon, which included an attack on Beirut’s southern suburbs on Sunday. Israel said it carried out a “large-scale strike against strategic defense systems” in response.
The Iranian military later announced it had stopped strikes against Israel, but Tehran’s Foreign Ministry told CNBC it would resume hostilities if the Israel Defense Forces continued to attack Lebanon.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the war against Iran and its proxy, Lebanon-based Hezbollah, “is not over yet”, insisting both are weaker than ever.
Trump had already promised an imminent resolution to the conflict, but hostilities would resume later. He initially announced that the fighting would last four to six weeks. He crossed the 100-day mark on Sunday.
Trump told reporters that the pilots of a U.S. Apache military helicopter that crashed Monday near the Strait of Hormuz “are doing well.”
He added that there was “no one injured” and that the administration would release a report on Tuesday. The cause is unknown.
Before the de-escalation of the confrontation between Israel and Iran on Monday, Trump said on Truth Social that negotiations were still “ongoing, subject to ignorance or stupidity getting in the way.”
He added that the ongoing US blockade against Iranian ports in the Gulf of Oman will not be lifted “until a ‘final agreement’ is reached.”
Oil prices fell Tuesday morning following this news. Brent crude futures fell 1.3% to $93.02 a barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate futures fell 1.8% to $89.67 a barrel.

View photos The advantages of comparing online car insurance quotes are the following: Online quotes can be obtained from anywhere and at any time. Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless.
