Jokowi’s influence is no longer dominant in the PDIP’s electoral base
Indonesian Political Parameters (PPI) Director Adi Prayitno assessed that giving Jokowi a PSI jacket was an attempt by the party with the rose symbol to reach voters identified with PDIP.
“Jokowi’s claim that he would wear a PSI jacket seems to be intended to attract PDIP voters who chose PDIP because of Jokowi,” Adi Prayitno told reporters on Sunday (14/6/2026).
However, Adi believes that this strategy is not easy to implement. According to him, the composition of PDIP voters after the 2024 presidential election changed after the weakening of political relations between Jokowi and PDIP.
He said that the majority of PDIP voters in the 2024 elections are ideological voters and activist cadres who have strong loyalty to the party, not just because of the Jokowi factor.
Because since the breakdown of the partnership during the 2024 presidential election, Jokowi’s supporters are no longer with the PDIP. Even without Jokowi, PDIP still won the legislative elections,” he said.
According to Adi, these conditions mean that Jokowi’s influence over the PDIP’s electoral base is no longer as great as before.

Therefore, Jokowi’s presence in PSI may not necessarily erode the electoral support of the party bearing the bull symbol.
Adi’s statement responded to PSI’s plan to pin Jokowi with a party jacket as a formal symbol of the former DKI Jakarta governor joining the party structure as chairman of the advisory council.
PSI DPP Chairman Bestari Barus said the pinning of the jacket would be carried out directly by PSI General Chairman Kaesang Pangarep.
The implementation schedule is still adjusting to the party and Jokowi’s agenda, but it is certain that it will take place in the near future.
“Yes, before traveling to Indonesia, it can flow. The most important thing is that the public announcement, Pak Jokowi, is not just words,” said Bestari, Saturday (13/6/2026).
According to Bestari, pinning the jacket is not only a political ceremony, but a symbol that clarifies Jokowi’s position in PSI after leaving the ranks of PDIP.
This plan has once again sparked speculation about the direction of PSI’s political consolidation in anticipation of the coming political contestation.
However, a number of observers believe that this step functions more as an affirmation of PSI’s political identity with Jokowi rather than as an instrument that could automatically change the PDIP’s electoral base.
