Volunteers say this week Jokowi’s degree defamation case will soon go to trial
ONLY, MettaNEWS— General Chairman of the Gibran Nusantara Militant Volunteers, Andi Azwan, revealed that the process of handing over the files for the alleged slander of the diploma of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), is expected to be carried out this week. Thus, the trial of the case should take place immediately.
This was conveyed by Andi Azwan after meeting Jokowi at his residence in the Sumber area, Banjarsari, Solo, Monday (15/6/2026).
“If we talk about P21, I say P21 is there. Just the Stage 2 delegation or P22. Pray this week,” he stressed.
According to Andi, the process of handling the case which took a long time was not due to the slowness of the Polda Metro Jaya investigators, but because the investigators were trying to respond to the suspects’ various requests.
He said everything from requests for an independent forensic laboratory to expert witnesses had been accommodated to ensure the legal process was polished.
“So that we understand that the police have always been very careful. And also because there is a new Penal Code, all the suspects’ requests have been met. For example, the requests of an independent laboratory have been met,” he explained.
However, he said a number of independent forensic laboratories do not have the facilities or capacity to conduct testing on degree documents that are the subject of disputes.
“Unfortunately, the independent laboratories of UI, TNI AD, BRIN do not have the facilities or capacity to test his diploma or the comparative diplomas of his friends. So this was carried out,” he explained.
Andi believes that the suspect is deliberately gaining time by submitting requests in stages in order to lengthen the investigation process.
“Then their request for an expert witness was fulfilled. But remember that they did it in stages, not all at once. So this game becomes long. An expert witness may take 2-3 weeks. So it is not something that Polda Metro Jaya can drag out,” he said.
Additionally, the request for restorative justice (RJ) made by a number of suspects was also seen as a factor that prolonged the investigation process. He gave the example of RJ’s request from Eggi Sudjana, Damai Hari Lubis and Rismon Sianipar which subsequently had the effect of terminating the suspect’s status.
“Why did it take so long for there to be an RJ? Previously, everything was in one package. Because there was restorative justice, they had to be opened one by one. They were removed from the BAP. So an additional BAP was created. The Rismon took 2 months. In reality, that’s what happened,” he said.
Andi also emphasized that there is no obligation for investigators to provide suspects with notification regarding P21 status. For this reason, he denied the narrative that the matter had not progressed to P21.
“If we say that the P21 does not exist, it is a complete lie. If it is said that Kombes Imamudin’s Direskrimum on June 2 was complete, there was no request from the prosecutor. There is no need for the P21 to be released to suspects or law enforcement.
He added that the issue of the P21’s absence was seen as purely intended to shape public opinion.
“There are more urgent demands or narratives that are constructed as if there is no P21. Commissioner General Ito Sumardi said that the P21 definitely exists,” he concluded.
