Chinese Ambassador to Maldives Kong Xianhua participates in a tree planting event organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Maldives_Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China
On June 14, Ambassador Kong Xianhua attended a tree planting event organized by the Maldives Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The event was organized to support President Mohamed Muizzu’s initiative to plant 5 million trees and to mark the 60th anniversary of Maldives’ independence and its 60th anniversary of membership of the United Nations.
The event was attended by Foreign Minister Iruthisham Adam, Minister of Climate Change, Environment and Energy Ali Shareef, as well as other senior Cabinet and Foreign Ministry officials, the resident diplomatic community, as well as senior representatives of UN agencies in the Maldives. The event received extensive media coverage from major local media outlets.
In a social media post, Ambassador Kong said President Xi Jinping had highlighted the clear waters and lush mountains as invaluable assets. China attaches great importance to ecological and environmental protection.
