PM Modi showcases digital innovation and expansion of UPI at VivaTech 2026 in Paris
“I congratulate President Macron and the organizers on the success of VivaTech. 2026 is a special year for India and Europe. At the beginning of the year, we concluded the historic India-EU Free Trade Agreement. This agreement will expand our trade and investment. And it will open many avenues for the exchange of talent, technology and tourism,” he added.
“With the launch of the India-France Year of Innovation this year, France constitutes an important bridge that brings together the technological ecosystem of India and Europe,” added the Prime Minister.

Prime Minister Modi said India believes that in this era of disruption, technology must serve everyone.
“We are massively using technology for financial inclusion, education, telemedicine, agriculture, etc. From Bharat Innovates, which was held a few days ago in Nice, to Viva Tech in Paris today, our start-ups are forging many new partnerships. From space technologies to nuclear energy, we are pushing the frontiers of human capabilities,” he said.
The Prime Minister said that over the last decade, India has witnessed rapid transformation fueled by technology.
He said UPI could also be used in France at the Eiffel Tower or Paris airport.
“From building the world’s largest digital identity system to the world’s largest digital payment platforms…at scale for financial inclusion, education, telemedicine, agriculture and much more. Thanks to our Unified Payments Interface or UPI, half of the world’s real-time digital transactions take place in India today,” he said.
“You can now use UPI in France also at the Eiffel Tower or Paris Airport. We have several examples of such world-class digital public goods. Digilocker is one of the largest digital document wallets in the world,” he added.
