Roy Suryo asks not to be detained, his lawyer files a request for suspension to the prosecution
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Roy Suryo’s lawyer, Refly Harun, will submit a request for suspension of detention so that his client is not detained after the process of transferring the case to the prosecutor’s office.
Refly said, state of health Roy Suryo as well as other suspects in the alleged fake diploma case of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi), Tifauzia Tyassuma or Doctor Tifa, are currently not yet fully recovered and are believed to be below 50 percent.
“We have prepared a letter of suspension and/or a request not to be detained. The conditions may be suspended or not detained because it is a delegation,” said Refly when met at the Kramat Jati Police Hospital, East Jakarta, Sunday (21/6/2026) evening.

Currently, the cases of Roy Suryo and Doctor Tifa are still being handled by investigators from Polda Metro Jaya.
However, both of them are expected to undergo Phase II delegation at the South Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office (Kejari) on Monday (22/6/2026).

Refly said the suspension request would be submitted to the South Jakarta Prosecutor’s Office.
“We will send the letter to the prosecutor’s office. We have prepared the letter, we just need to submit the medical examination. I hope there will be good results tomorrow,” he continued.
The suspension letter will be sent by the legal team before 09:00 WIB.
He hopes that the South Jakarta Prosecutor’s Office can respond to the request immediately.
Apart from this, the legal team will also confirm the health status of Roy Suryo and Doctor Tifa this evening before the delegation process is carried out.
“Whether it is possible to forward it to the South Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office or whatever later, we will coordinate. I hope we can coordinate with the investigators and also the prosecutor’s office,” Refly explained.
He hopes that Roy Suryo and Doctor Tifa can be taken to the South Jakarta Prosecutor’s Office to undergo Phase II of the delegation process if their health conditions permit.
However, if their health condition is not adequate, Refly hopes that the detention process can be postponed.
As previously reported, Polda Metro Jaya named eight people as suspects in an alleged defamation case related to the alleged fake diploma of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo.
The suspects were charged under sections 27A and 28 of the Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE) Act, as well as sections 310 and/or 311 of the Penal Code, with a maximum sentence of six years in prison.
