According to Alzier, the awarding of traditional titles is a form of etiquette and a form of respect and appreciation, as well as gratitude and thanks from the traditional community of Lampung to the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia. Moreover, Jokowi’s status in Lampung is that of guest and former president, as well as former head of state and government.

“The religion I adhere to strongly recommends honoring guests. In addition, it is a special guest, a former leader of the Indonesian nation.

Apart from this context, Alzier also expressed the Lampung philosophy of “Nemui Nyimah” as a concept of appreciation and respect for guests. Because, according to Alzier, the Lampung philosophy is a local cultural wisdom that must also be maintained and applied, which has the meaning of being civilized and civilized: good manners, sharing with guests, generosity with guests, and friendliness with guests. In his statement, the local man of Sai Batin Marga Pugung Penengahan, Pesisir Barat Lampung Regency expressed concern and disappointment over the granting of traditional titles to Jokowi.

“I convey this attitude as a form of moral responsibility towards the community, the nation and the country.

May Allah SWT always guide us all in maintaining the unity, justice and honor of the nation,” he said.

He admitted that he was disappointed with the government’s administration which no longer conformed to the hopes he had previously fought for, causing a decline in the quality of democracy in Indonesia.

STATEMENT OF ATTITUDE

Saying Bismillahirrahmanirrahim,

I convey this statement of attitude as a form of moral responsibility towards the indigenous Lampung people, towards the Indonesian nation and towards the noble values ​​in which I have always believed.

As a local son from the direct descendants of the 13th Sai Batin Marga Pugung Penengahan West Pesisir Regency, Lampung, I express my concern and disappointment over the granting of traditional titles to Mr. Joko Widodo carried out by parties who claim to represent some of the traditional kingdoms in Lampung.

I respect the right of each traditional institution to make decisions according to the mechanisms in which it believes. However, I am of the opinion that the granting of traditional titles is a decision which has very high moral, historical and cultural significance.

Therefore, each award must be made with wisdom, care and consideration of the aspirations of the indigenous community as a whole.

For Lampung residents, traditional titles are not only a symbol of respect. Traditional titles represent honor, example, integrity and service to society. These values ​​were transmitted by the ancestors and are part of the cultural identity which must be maintained with all responsibility.

I also express this view based on my personal experience. During the 2014 presidential election, I received the mandate of coordinator of the legal team of the national campaign for the victory of the presidential and vice-presidential candidates Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla (JOKOWI-JK), a task which I accomplished with full responsibility.

However, over time, based on my personal assessment of the development of national and state life, I feel very disappointed by various political attitudes and practices of government administration which, in my opinion, no longer correspond to the hopes that had been held before and have led to a decline in the quality of democracy in Indonesia.

For this reason, I personally do not agree with the attribution of this traditional title.

I also hope that no one will assume that this decision reflects the attitude of the entire traditional community in Lampung.

Lampung has history, traditional structures and a diversity of views that must be respected. Differences of opinion are as much a part of democratic life as respect for traditional wisdom.

This statement is not intended to demean anyone or cause division. On the contrary, this declaration is a form of my concern so that the honor of traditional institutions is maintained, does not lose its authority, and remains the guardian of the noble values ​​inherited from our ancestors.

I invite all elements of society to continue to preserve traditional dignity, defend democracy based on the constitution and build an Indonesia that is just, dignified and respectful of the voice of the people.

Thus, I convey this statement of attitude as a form of moral responsibility towards society, nation and state.

May Allah SWT always guide us in maintaining the unity, justice and honor of the nation.

In conclusion, let me remind us all that tradition is respected because of the nobility of morality. “The law is respected because of justice. Power is respected not because of its position, but because of the mandate it carries out.”
