PTI dismisses rumors of Dr Yasmin Rashid’s death

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has denied reports circulating on social media that senior party leader Dr Yasmin Rashid has died. She is currently imprisoned in Kot Lakhpat jail after being convicted in cases related to the May 9 incidents.

In a statement shared on X, PTI central spokesperson Sheikh Waqas Akram confirmed that Dr Yasmin Rashid is alive and remains in Kot Lakhpat jail.

All the news being spread about Dr. Yasmeen Rashid is false and has nothing to do with reality. Dr. Yasmeen Rashid Alhamdulillah is alive and sacrificing imprisonment and hardship for the cause of her leader Imran Khan in Kot Lakhpat jail. People should not listen to any rumors.

He said she continues to face what he described as illegal detention and severe punishment for supporting Imran Khan.

Sheikh Waqas Akram said that all reports circulating about the death of Dr Yasmin Rashid are false and have no basis in reality.

He urged PTI workers and the public not to pay heed to rumors about Dr Yasmin Rashid, stressing that such reports are completely baseless.

Rumors had already spread on social media that Dr Yasmin Rashid’s health suddenly deteriorated in Kot Lakhpat jail and that she died while undergoing treatment after being shifted to the hospital. However, the PTI rejected these claims and termed them as false.
