Doctor Tifa accused of defaming Jokowi following accusations of false diplomas

Jakarta: Suspect Tifauzia Tyassuma (Doctor Tifa) was charged with committing criminal acts of slander and defamation against the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, regarding allegations of fake undergraduate degree (S1). Doctor Tifa committed this criminal act through posts on social media.
In his indictment, the Attorney General (JPU) said this case began when Joko Widodo’s (Jokowi) aide Syarif Muhammad Fitriansyah showed three social media posts containing accusations that Jokowi’s license certificate was fake on March 26, 2025.
“Among the three social media posts seen by witness Joko Widodo, there was a post from the defendant Tifauziah Tyassuma on social media,” said the prosecutor of Doctor Tifa’s first trial at the East Jakarta District Court, as reported by BetweenThursday July 2, 2026.
Following these findings, Jokowi’s legal team collected various messages considered to damage Jokowi’s honor and reputation.
From April 22 to May 21, 2025, witness Syarif Muhammad Fitriansyah showed witness Jokowi 28 social media posts that essentially alleged that Jokowi’s license certificate was fake.

The prosecutor said that the defendant Tifa continued to make accusations regarding Jokowi’s alleged fake diploma through various posts on social media, during chat activities and in broadcasting chats or discussions (talk show).
“Due to the actions of the accused, witness Joko Widodo suffered material losses, namely his personal reputation was tarnished, he felt insulted to the maximum and degraded to the lowest level,” the prosecutor said.
For her actions, Tifa was charged with the main charge of Article 434 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 441 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 126 paragraph (1) of Law Number 1 of 2023 Concerning the Criminal Code (KUHP). The next alternative uses article 310, paragraph (1), of the Penal Code.
Furthermore, the prosecutor filed two charges based on Article 35 in conjunction with Article 51 paragraph (1) and Article 32 in conjunction with Article 48 paragraph (1) of Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions, in conjunction with Law Number 1 of 2026 concerning Criminal Adjustments and Article 126 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code.
