SOLO, KOMPAS.com – Solo Mayor Respati Ardi was reported to the Solo District Prosecutor’s Office (Kejari) on suspicion of abuse of power regarding the installation of billboards congratulating former President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on his 65th birthday.
The report was submitted by two residents Solo with the Legal Aid Institute (LBH) Mega Bintang on Friday (3/7/2026).
The journalists are Budi Kuswanto and Tri Sapto, on behalf of elements of the Solo City company.
Both were accompanied by LBH Mega Bintang’s legal advisor, Muhammad Arnas.

Why was Respati Ardi reported for abuse of power?
Budi explained that the submitted report constituted a general offense regarding alleged abuse of power in the installation of birthday greeting billboards. Jokowi.
“Together with friends from LBH Mega Bintang, we submitted a report regarding alleged criminal abuse of power committed by the mayor in connection with the installation of billboards congratulating the former president’s birthday,” Budi told the media team of the Solo Prosecutor’s Office, as reported by Kompas.comFriday.
According to Budi, the problem started after the Solo Communication, Informatics, Statistics and Coding Service (Diskominfo SP) said that the installation of the billboard used personal funds.
However, the billboard actually included the name of the Surakarta city government.
“The question is how much personal spending is being incurred? In what context should the government be transparent, right?” » added Budi.
“Moreover, the installation is in the name of the Mayor’s Government, the Surakarta City Government,” he continued.

He felt there was a conflict between the allegation of use of personal funds and the inclusion of the government agency’s name on the billboard.
“It’s a contradictory thing. If you use it personally, why is it written in the name of the Surakarta city government?” said Boudi.
“Well, this means that the financial potential of the Surakarta municipal government was lost when it was installed by abusing its authority,” he added.
On the same occasion, the journalist’s lawyer, Muhammad Arnas, said that the report on the alleged corruption had been received by the Solo prosecutor’s office and that it should be followed up immediately.
Arnas asked law enforcement officials to examine all parties related to the installation of billboards, including ensuring the budget sources used.
