Roy Suryo submits to preliminary trial again, even though decision on first trial is only days away

Suara.com – Roy Suryo once again filed a lawsuit regarding his status as a suspect in the case of alleged slander of the certificate of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo.

The measure drew attention because it was proposed just days before the judge read the ruling in his first pretrial.

Based on data from the Case Tracking Information System (SIPP) of the South Jakarta District Court, the latest trial was registered under number 108/Pid.Pra/2026/PN JKT.SEL on Thursday (2/7/2026).

On the SIPP website, it is mentioned that the main question proposed by Roy was to test the validity or otherwise of his designation as a suspect.

“Case Classification: Whether or not the implementation of coercive efforts to identify a suspect is valid,” reads the statement contained in the SIPP of the South Jakarta District Court.

The first hearing on this second trial is scheduled for Friday (10/7/2026) with the reading of the petition on the agenda.

In fact, Roy’s first preliminary trial with number 99/Pid.Pra/2026/PN JKT.SEL, registered on June 22, 2026, has now entered the conclusion stage.

Single Judge I Ketut Darpawan is expected to read the decision on the first trial on Tuesday (7/7/2026), just three days before the first trial of the second trial is scheduled to be held.

Responding to Roy’s legal steps by resubmitting a pre-trial application, Head of the Legal Division (Kabidkum) of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Abrianto Pardede said his party respected these efforts.

“We are ready to be present to respond to this request,” Abrianto said during his confirmation, Saturday (4/7/2026).

Abrianto emphasized that holding a pretrial hearing is the right of any citizen who feels disadvantaged in the law enforcement process.

“That’s OK, we know that pretrial is a right for people who feel their rights have been violated or harmed by the arbitrary actions of law enforcement officers,” he said.

However, Abrianto revealed that his party has yet to receive the second pre-trial letter of prosecution.

“Later we will see if the pre-trial letter has arrived at the address. Well, we from Bidkum Polda Metro Jaya are always ready to serve the pretrial,” he said.

This second pre-trial was again sent to Polda Metro Jaya and the Attorney General’s Office, with a copy to the DKI Jakarta Attorney General’s Office.

With two pretrials taking place almost simultaneously, the public now waits to see if the first ruling on July 7 will affect the continuation of the second trial which will enter its first trial three days later.
