Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said his relations with US President Donald Trump were “good”, dismissing reports of divisions between the two leaders over the ceasefire with Iran and Israeli attacks in Lebanon.

In an interview with Fox News on Monday, Netanyahu praised the United States and Trump.

“America has been a tremendous force for good, and without it, there will be no democracy in the world, and there will be no freedom in the world,” he said.

The Israeli prime minister added that he and Trump agreed on “pretty much everything.”

His comments come as some Israeli cabinet members criticize the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran that calls for a regional ceasefire, including in Lebanon.

Israel has refused to withdraw from Lebanon, insisting it has the right to bomb the country at any time to respond to “threats.” An Israeli strike in southern Lebanon killed four civilians on Monday, including a teacher.

Netanyahu said there may be differences between the United States and Israel, but that the two countries were “model allies.”

“My relationship with the president is good and we have a way to resolve our differences as mutually respectful allies,” he said.

The Prime Minister confirmed he would visit the United States again soon, but said no date had been set for the trip.

Asked about his agenda during his visit, Netanyahu took aim at Turkey, saying he would lobby against the transfer of F-35 jets to Ankara.

“I don’t think they should receive F-35s or engines for their fighter jets, because that would upset the balance of power in the Middle East, which is ultimately guaranteed by Israeli air superiority, and also, I think, by the American position in the Middle East,” he said.

Turkey, a US NATO ally, has been an outspoken critic of Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza.

Trump is expected to travel to Ankara later this week for a NATO summit.

Netanyahu tried to draw a contrast between Israel and Turkey.

“They didn’t lift a finger to help you in Iran. We did,” he said on Fox News, a conservative US media network primarily watched by Trump voters. “We are the model ally who fought alongside your great soldiers.”

Netanyahu has been calling on the United States to attack Iran for decades, leading to the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran that erupted on Feb. 28 and has proven extremely unpopular with American voters.

Some Israeli commentators and politicians have stepped up their rhetoric against Turkey, suggesting that the country is the next regional rival and target after Iran.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Saturday warned of Israel’s efforts to undermine the US-Iran deal.

“We are closely following the Israeli administration’s attempts to dynamite the agreement,” he said. “The current Israeli government, addicted to war, must not be allowed to once again drown our geography in the smell of gunpowder and blood. »
