Pre-trial session continues today, Roy Suryo on hand to listen to Metropolitan Police responses
JAKARTA, iNews.id – The South Jakarta District Court (PN) again held a preliminary hearing to determine whether the determination of suspect Roy Suryo was valid or not in the alleged defamation case related to the diploma of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi), Monday (13/7/2026). Roy Suryo was present at the trial to hear Polda Metro Jaya’s response as a respondent.
“Today the agenda is to listen to the respondent’s response,” said Roy Suryo from the South Jakarta District Court.
The trial was presided over by single judge I Ketut Darpawan. Roy Suryo was present with his legal team.
Besides Polda Metro as a defendant, representatives of the South Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office as a co-defendant were also present at the trial.
Before the start of the trial, Roy Suryo stressed that no other party could act on his behalf as legal advisor apart from the team currently accompanying him in the trial process.
This statement was specifically addressed to Ahmad Khozinudin’s camp. According to Roy, they were never involved in the trial or the ongoing pre-trial process.
“So there is no longer a team that can act on behalf of Roy Suryo’s lawyer. Because he did not attend the trial and did not participate in the pre-trial and did not follow the exception of Doctor Tifa (Tifauzia Tyassuma). We are still fighting and want to dismantle Jokowi’s certificate,” he said.
We know that this pre-trial is the second time that Roy Suryo has taken legal action. During the previous pre-trial, the judge granted part of Roy’s trial regarding the search, arrest and detention carried out by the Polda Metro Jaya investigation team.
“To judge, partially grant the plaintiff’s pre-trial,” said Judge I Ketut Darpawan when reading the verdict on Tuesday (7/7/2026).
The judge declared that the search, arrest and detention of Roy Suryo was illegal.
During preparation for trial, Roy Suryo challenged the search, arrest and detention carried out by investigators from Polda Metro Jaya. The lawsuit filed on Monday (6/22/2026) was registered under registration number 99/Pid.Pra/2026/PN JKT.SEL.
The defendant is the Government of the Republic of Indonesia cq Kapolda Metro Jaya cq Dirreskrimum Polda Metro Jaya cq Kasubdit Kamneg cq Investigative Team and Attorney General cq Jampidum at the Attorney General’s Office cq DKI Jakarta Prosecutor’s Office.
