No evidence supports Imran Khan’s viral poll claim of 87% or 92%

No evidence supports Imran Khan’s viral poll claim of 87% or 92%

Claim: A recent survey revealed that 92% of Pakistanis believe that Imran Khan is the people’s choice to take Pakistan out of the crisis.

Fact: This statement is false. Soch Fact Check found no such investigation or credible public poll. The figures cited in the statement are also not supported by a clear source.

Several posts on Facebook, Instagram, Threads and A viral graphic read: “New survey reveals 92% of Pakistanis believe Imran Khan is people’s choice to lead Pakistan out of crisis. » Another version claimed that 87% of Pakistanis believed that only Imran Khan could lead the country out of the crisis.

Screenshot of a Facebook post claiming that a new survey finds that 92% of Pakistanis believe Imran Khan is the “people’s choice” to lead Pakistan out of crisis.

Screenshot of a Facebook post claiming that a “poll service” found that 87% of Pakistanis believe that only Imran Khan can lead the country out of the crisis.

Fact or fiction?

Soch Fact Check reviewed the viral posts and found that they did not identify any details of a typical survey, such as polling organization, field dates, sample size, sampling method, geographic coverage, exact question wording, margin of error, funding source. The messages also did not contain a link to an original report.

We then searched for key phrases from the statement in Urdu and English, including “92% of respondents believe in Imran Khan”, “87% of respondents believe in Imran Khan”, “people’s choice to take Pakistan out of crisis”, “only Imran Khan can take the country out of crisis”, “92 فیصد پاکستانی مانتے ہیں کہ عمران خان” and “87 فیصد پاکستانی عمران خان”. The results yielded no credible public survey indicating that 87% or 92% of Pakistanis believe Imran Khan is best placed to lead the country out of the crisis.

For further verification, we searched the websites and public records of relevant polling and research organizations, including Gallup Pakistan, Ipsos in Pakistan, IPOR and PILDAT. The results here also revealed no such investigation. Soch Fact Check then contacted Gallup Pakistan, Ipsos, IPOR and PILDAT to ask if they had conducted, commissioned, published or were aware of an investigation consistent with this viral claim. Gallup Pakistan responded to our email on July 9, 2026 and stated: “Gallup Pakistan has not conducted any surveys suggesting the findings you share. He added that any attribution to Gallup Pakistan of these findings is “false and fabricated.” Gallup Pakistan also said that any surveys it chooses to publicly disclose are published on its official website and social media channels, and that when it publishes a survey, it discloses full details of its methodology and funding source.

Ipsos in Pakistan also responded to our email. Abdul Sattar Babar, CEO and Managing Director of Ipsos in Pakistan, said they had not “conducted, commissioned or published any survey with this or a similar result,” while adding that he was not aware of “any credible survey reporting such a result in recent months or years.” Soch Fact Check has also contacted IPOR and PILDAT for comment. This article will be updated as soon as we receive a response from them.

Finally, Soch Fact Check contacted several social media pages that had shared this claim, asking them to provide the source of the survey figure. None of the pages responded to our query at the time of publishing this article. Viral posts therefore do not provide the basic details needed to verify a real poll.

In the absence of such an original investigative report and the fact that the claim has not been attributed to any clear polling organization or source, Soch Fact Check considers this claim to be false. The figures of 87% or 92% are not supported by a credible source.

Virality

Soch Fact Check found the claim on Facebook, Instagram, Threads and X (formerly Twitter). The messages appeared in two main variations, one claiming 92% support for Imran Khan and another claiming 87% support. On Facebook, posts marked 87% or 92% received at least 26,436 likes or reactions, 2,783 comments and 1,565 shares. On Instagram, posts with this claim received at least 4,045 likes, 480 comments and 99 shares. The claim was also shared on Threads and X.

Soch Fact Check has already debunked a similar viral claim that falsely attributed a 90% Imran Khan popularity survey to CNN.

Conclusion: No credible public survey has reported the viral figures of 87% or 92%. Social media pages sharing this claim also did not attribute a clear source to the investigation. This statement is therefore false.
