Boris to encourage employees to return to their offices with new flexible travel tickets in June | UK | News
The government intends to relax its “work from home” message from June 21 and will introduce new flexible tickets to help persuade people to return to their workplaces. These can be used two to three times a week and will save commuters hundreds of pounds. The Prime Minister wants workers to return to their offices to help revive the street economy, which has been devastated by the pandemic.
He told a rail industry conference on Friday that the public would again need in-person contact.
“In a few months, if all goes as planned, we in the UK will reopen our economy,” he said.
“And then, believe me, the British will be consumed again by their desire for a real face-to-face meeting that will make all the difference in the deal or whatever.”
A source from the Department of Transport (DfT) told the Daily Telegraph that flexible rail subscriptions will go on sale in England “in the first half” of this year.

“These new flexible subscriptions, reflecting modern working life, will be introduced across England this year, available to all operators supervised by DfT.

Currently, the number of travelers by rail is around 14% of 2019 levels.
Last week, the Goldman Sachs chief described working from home as an “aberration” and expected offices to be full of workers again soon.
