Tauros Woogk and Stachowiak commit to NCAA D1 hockey programs
MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) – As the Minotauros prepare for the Central Division final against Bismarck, two players have mapped out their future plans.
On Wednesday, Colby Woogk committed to Western Michigan, and Trevor Stachowiak committed to Minnesota Duluth. The players explain why they chose their respective schools.
I thought Western [Michigan]was probably my best choice. Just because of the coaching staff and the culture they're building there, I think it was definitely my best choice, and that's why I chose Western, Woogk said.
It's obviously a school with a lot of great history and I'm definitely super excited to be a part of it. Talking to their coaching staff and everything, their culture is something I really want to be a part of. “I'm super excited and couldn't be happier,” Stachowiak said.
Woogk joins a Western Michigan program that made the NCAA Tournament this year, and Stachowiak heads to a Minnesota Duluth team that has won three national championships.
Minotauros Head Coach Cody Campbell gave his thoughts on the commitments.
It's unique that these two guys, Trevor and Colby, commit on the same day. Those are the two guys who have been here for the three years I've been here too. It's pretty unique, I don't know if it's a coincidence or what, but cool thing, Campbell said.
The commitments of Woogks and Stachowiak mean there are seven current Tauros players moving on to NCAA hockey next season.
