Field hockey: reached six of the eight semi-final rounds
AURORA – Three of the four championship semifinalists have been determined for the state field hockey championships, while three of the four consolation semifinalist teams have also been determined. The winners of the semi-final matches will advance to next Wednesday's final.
In the main championship, No. 1 Colorado Academy and No. 5 Kent Denver will meet in one semifinal, while No. 3 Arapahoe will await the winner of tomorrow's quarterfinal between No. 2 Cherry Creek and No. 7 Mountain Vista. Both semifinal matches will be played Monday evening at DPS All-City Stadium.
In the consolation round, No. 11 Boulder Valley School District, No. 12 Cheyenne Mountain and No. 15 Pine Creek all advanced, while No. 8 Smoky Hill and No. 16 Grandview will play tomorrow for the chance to take the final spot in the semi to secure the final. . Boulder Valley School District and Pine Creek will play in one semifinal, while Cheyenne Mountain awaits the winner of the Smoky Hill vs. Grandview of tomorrow. Both semifinal consolation matches will be played next Tuesday at DPS All-City Stadium.
Colorado Academy advanced in the championship round by beating No. 9 St. Mary's Academy 5-1 in the quarterfinals, while Kent Denver upset No. 4 Regis Jesuit 3-2, and Arapahoe defeated No. 6 Denver East with 2- 1.
Pine Creek advanced in the consolation round by shutting out No. 10 Palmer Ridge 1-0, while Boulder Valley School District shutout No. 14 Dakota Ridge 2-0.
