Men's tennis concludes fall regular season with NCAA bids

At the ITA Sectionals in Fort Worth, four Bears competed and achieved success. Devin Badenhorst And Oskar Brostrom Poulsen both earned their bids to the NCAA Individual Championships. Badenhorst won 3-0, defeating two opponents, including No. 27 Pablo Alemany (Memphis) 6-2, 6-2 in the round of 16 and No. 72 Aristotelis Thanos (Michigan State) 6-2, 6-0 at to finish as a semi-finalist and claim his bid.
Brostrom Poulsen won 3-1 this weekend and qualified for the quarter-finals of the play-offs with a victory. The senior earned his career-high win over No. 9 Jack Anthrop (Ohio State) 6-3, 6-2 to advance to the quarterfinals. Brostrom Poulsen defeated No. 41 Isaac Becroft (Oklahoma State) 6-4, 6-2 to earn his singles bid to the NCAA tournament.
Competing in the consolation singles bracket, Louis Bowden made the most of his time in Fort Worth, going 3-1 and finishing as a finalist. Bowden recorded his top-ranked singles victory over No. 27 Pablo Alemany (Memphis) 4-6, 6-1, 10-4.Marko Miladinovic went 0-2 in the main singles draw this weekend.
At the ITA Conference Masters Championships in Rome, Georgia, Zsombor Velcz competed in the singles bracket and Imran Daniel Hazli And Luc Koenig competed as a doubles team. Daniel Hazli and Koenig reached the round of 16 before falling to the fourth-placed duo of Gardner-Webb. Velcz advanced to the quarterfinals, just one win away from a bid to the NCAAs, before falling to 5-8 seed Tiago Silva (The Pacific).
Staying home in Waco, Luis José Nakamine And Justin Braverman hosted teams for the Brazos Challenge. The duo went 1-1 in doubles, while Nakamine went 2-1 and Braverman 0-2 in singles. Nakamine was on a 10-game winning streak dating back to last weekend at the Ralston/Neufeld Coaches Challenge before losing to Mathis Bondaz (Arizona State).

The four Bears who qualified for the NCAA Individual Tournament, Badenhorst (singles, doubles), Brostrom Poulsen (singles, doubles), Miladinovic (doubles) and Velcz (doubles), are beginning to prepare for the competition that will take place from 19 -November 24 at the Hurd Tennis Center. The seedings were released by the NCAA on Monday, with the duo of Miladinovic/Brostrom Poulsen earning the No. 2 seed and Badehorst/Velcz with a 5-8 seed. The draws are scheduled for Saturday, November 16.
