No. 2 Seed Bisons Set for Historic NCAA Regional Hosting vs. Nebraska Kearney
SEARCY, Ark. – History will be made Monday morning at the David Elliott Tennis Complex when the No. 35-ranked Harding men’s tennis team hosts its first NCAA Tournament match in program history.
The No. 2 seed Bisons (16-7) welcome No. 3 seed Nebraska-Kearney (16-7) for the NCAA Central Regional final at 11 a.m. The winner will automatically receive a ticket to the NCAA Division II National Championships in Surprise, Arizona, scheduled for May 20-24.
The stakes
Harding is making his 14th appearance in the NCAA tournament and his third straight trip. Despite a long history of postseason qualification, the Bison are still looking for their first-ever NCAA Tournament victory. Playing on their home court in Searcy gives the Bisons their best chance yet to break that barrier.
The second chance
Monday’s clash is a direct rematch of the MIAA Tournament semifinals, held April 30 in Springfield, Missouri. In that match, Harding dropped the doubles point but stormed back with four straight singles victories to claim a 4–1 victory.
Lineup breakdown
Doubles: Harding has a significant advantage at the top of the doubles lineup with the No. 3-ranked duo Adrian Solorzano And Cian Mikkelsen (18-7 overall). However, UNK’s top pair of Ivan Melnik and Andy Brisdon, who were ranked seventh nationally, won the match 6-1 in the previous meeting. The Bison will look for stability at second from #27 Florian Gayme And Jan Alexander Haswho led the team with an overall record of 19-9.
Singles: The singles lineup provides elite depth for the Bisons. Adrian Solorzano (No. 66 nationally) leads the way at No. 1 with 15 dual meet wins this season.
Freshman Jan Alexander Has and junior Cian Mikkelsen were the catalysts in the previous meeting, securing the points that demoralized the Runners’ momentum.

The Bison enter the region with momentum, having reached the MIAA Championship game for the first time in school history just ten days ago. The team’s 16-7 record is one of the strongest in the Central Region, highlighted by a dominant 9-4 record on the road and a perfect 3-0 mark at home this season.
